WEC 41 will be taking place on June 7th and will feature a rematch between two featherweight greats, Mike Brown (17-4-1) and Urijah Faber (22-2). FiveOuncesOfPain broke the news today that the rematch would happen and that Faber will have the hometown crowd on his side in Sacramento, California.

This fight is a rematch of the title fight at WEC 36 where Mike Brown shocked Faber via (T)KO in the first round.

Another point that should be noted is that the event will not be on PPV as it was previously expected to be. Obviously Zuffa realize that fans are not willing to shed out another $30 every month for their fights.

UFC 97 Has Been Saved. Will Stay In Montreal

It was looking as though moving the venue for UFC 97 was going to be the only way it would go on. That was until UFC officials went to see the Quebec Athletic Commission. It now seems as though the issues have been resolved and UFC 97 will be at the almost sold out Bell Centre, Monteal, Canada.

Last week the QAC put a stop to elbow and knee strikes in MMA which would of posed a serious threat to UFC 97. A report coming out of Corussports.com today claimed that the UFC had worked the commission into allowing the unified MMA rules which would still allow fighters to elbow and knee to the head.

UFC officials Lorenzo Fertitta and Marc Ratner met with the officials in Canada yesterday. If the talks didn’t go in the favor of the UFC it was expected that the event may have been moved to MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas according to Kevin Iole.

The main event at UFC 97 will feature Anderson Silva defending his UFC Middleweight Championship against fellow Brazilian Thales Leites.
