It seems as though Chuck Liddell will just not give up despite losing five of his last six fights, three of which were viscous knockouts. Many people, including myself, believe that it is time for the hall of famer to retire before he suffers some serious damage.

Heres a excerpt from an interview Chuck Liddell did with Kevin Iole on Yahoo!Sports:

“I’m still working on evaluating. I thought I did great before I was caught. I have to look at it some more and think about it. I think I looked good and I definitely was in great shape. I could have kept that pace up for another four rounds, without a doubt.”

Notice, “I was caught.” Does Chuck not realize he has been “caught” pretty good in his last three fights now. Chuck will have more respect if he retires now and stops trying to come back and make a run for the title. Lets face it, there are no more titles in Liddell’s career. If Dana White was to let Chuck fight again in the UFC then he really needs to check up the meaning of “friend” in the dictionary because no one should want to see their long time friend KO’d like that again.

“Fighting for my country and my heritage is what motivates me. Nothing else … I’m not a UFC fan, so I believe our fight is more important (than Lesnar vs. Carwin). I’m not a fan of watching UFC fights. There is always a lot of negativity coming out of their fights. I don’t want to look too far ahead, I’m just focusing on Werdum. We have two fights left with Stirkeforce, and assuming everything goes well, I don’t see any reason why we wouldn’t continue the relationship. But I am considering retirement more and more often now. I’d like to finish out my contract without any losses and then just see what God has planned for me.”

As you can see from the above quote Fedor Emelianenko, widely believed to be MMA’s number one heavyweight, has no plans on joining the UFC. Instead the 33-year-old WAMMA champion is looking more towards retirement. In his next fight Fedor will face off against Fabricio Werdum and if all goes well Fedor would likely challenge for the Strikeforce championship against Alistair Overeem in what would surely be one of Strikeforce’s biggest fights ever.

MMA Fighter Lee Murray was sentenced today to 10 years in a Moroccan jail for the part he played in a June 2006 robbery of a Securitas depot in Kent. The estimated value of cash taken comes in at 53 million GBP, at a 2006 exchange rate Murray and accomplices made away with over $90,000,000.

Why a Moroccan jail? Murray is also a citizen of Morocco and he fled there after the robbery. Due to his citizenship the Moroccan government would not extradite him to the UK for a trial.

Does it come as any surprise you you that once again UFC President, Dana White, is bashing the ability of boxers in MMA? Probably not as he has done it so many times in the past. This time though he is taking aim at two of boxing’s biggest stars in Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr..

Michael David Smith of MMA Fighting posted an article earlier today which highlights what the UFC boss said in an interview this morning. Radio host Dan Patrick posed this question to Dana White in the interview, “if I put Pacquiao and Mayweather in the Octagon, could you tell — from their boxing skills — how they would be in the Octagon?” Dana White in his usual ways responded, “either one of those guys would get beaten in mixed martial arts.”

The topic of whether a boxer could come in and defeat a mixed martial artist is a tough one. Mayweather being the heaviest of the two boxers mentioned would have to fight in the WEC in the featherweight division. Some of the best names within that division are Urijah Faber, Jose Aldo and Mike Brown. When I really think about this I don’t see any of those guys being able to beat Mayweather. Mayweather would be too fast for them.

Given three months notice to work of keeping the fight standing either one of those fighters would be able to defeat the top of their given weight division. Of course that is just my opinion. Anyone believe that Pacquiao and Mayweather would not be able to get in the cage and come out a winner?
