Kimbo Slice to Fight Ken Shamrock
This October 4th at the 3rd EliteXC on CBS ratings machine Kimbo Slice will step into the cage to face 44-year-old Ken Shamrock.
For some reason the EliteXC matchmaking team still feel the need to put Kimbo up against some soft opponents. Ken Shamrock has gone four years now without winning a fight. Why did the EliteXC not put Kimbo up against someone like Brett Rogers who has wanted to fight Kimbo since the EliteXC network debut. Or how about Sean Gannon who has been the only man to defeat Kimbo Slice in their Youtube.com brawl.
Ken Shamrocks most recent fight was at Cage Rage 25 where he lost to Robert “Buzz” Berry by a knockout. So if Shamrock is getting knocked out by Berry what sort of an advantage does this give Kimbo Slice? A big one. Infact the only way Shamrock would have a chance defeating Kimbo would be a submission. The submission should be highly unlikely though after Kimbo’s dismal performance against James Thompson he has probably been spending more time on his ground game.
The fight will be this October 4th on CBS Saturday Night Fights.

Who Should Kimbo Slice Fight This October?
There are many fighters that the EliteXC should put Kimbo up against. Thing is they just wont do it. Kimbo Slice is too big of a marketing tool for them. The debut show of “Saturday Night Fights” which featured a main event fight between Kimbo Slice and James Thompson was the most watched MMA event in the US. Unfortunately for the EliteXC their numbers for the second show had took a 40% drop, the show did not feature Kimbo Slice in a fight.
So the main reason the EliteXC will not put Kimbo in a fight against a high level heavyweight MMA fighter is due to the numbers. If Kimbo Slice was to lose a fight he could lose all credibility.
EliteXC could take a risk though, putting Kimbo up against a really great heavyweight fighter. Why not try giving him a title shot against EliteXC’s first heavyweight champion Antonio Silva? Kimbo would get annihilated but maybe if it was a main event fight a new EliteXC front-man could be created.
Of course Kimbo Slice could also fight Brett Rogers which would prove to be an interesting fight for all of the five minutes it would last. I am pretty sure that Rogers would rip him to pieces in just the first round. Both Brett Rogers and Kimbo Slice had some words to exchange after the debut show on CBS.
The two fighters above would be the best fights for fans to see where Kimbo actually stands in the EliteXC heavyweight division. Chances are though that the EliteXC will select a fighter with a big ZERO on the experience scale just so Kimbo can impress again.

Kimbo Slice vs. James Thompson EliteXC Preview

Kimbo Slice vs. James Thompson the headlining event for EliteXC on CBS tonight. The first ever main event to be broadcast on National Television. “Saturday Night Fights” will air tonight on CBS at 9PM EST.
Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson (2-0) will be taking on James “The Colossus” Thompson (14-8). There is big debate on whether this fight is even worthy of being a main event. For a start Kimbo has only ever been in 2 professional fights and hasn’t really proved himself to the MMA world as of yet. Secondly people believe that James Thompson was specifically chosen because of his weak chin.
Can Kimbo finish this fight as quick as his other two?
He definitely can! James Thompson has an incredibly weak chin. Combine that with Kimbo’s huge striking power and I think fans are going to be seeing a fight ending with a KO in the first round, maybe even the first two minutes.
Kimbo has been training with Bas Rutten
Thats right Kimbo is being trained by one of the greatest heavyweights in the MMA world, Bas Rutten (28-4-1). Both Bas and Kimbo seem to be getting on heres a quote from Kimbo about Bas:
“Bas is the man. You know what I’m saying? Can’t get a better trainer, a better coach a better adviser of the sport and of the game. I mean he explains everything to me why. And to my knowledge I can pick it up better. I can understand the cause and the effect of everything, and I wouldn’t want to change that.”
I see this fight going only one way…
…and that is in the favor of Kimbo Slice. He is too powerful for James Thompson. I believe a better opponent could of been picked for Kimbo but I guess you don’t want to show up your top guy the first time you get on national TV.
