Chuck Liddell clearly got pissed off by the remarks that Tito Ortiz made in regards to Liddell’s alcoholism.

Chuck Liddell Wants Four More Fights in the UFC

January 26, 2010 · Filed Under UFC · Comment

He has yet to make his return to the UFC but already Chuck Liddell believes he will be getting a title fight in his fourth fight back.

I miss fighting and I want to fight, so that’s what I’m doing. I’ll keep arguing and (White) will keep arguing with me. I just have to show him that I can perform. I would like another fight and then I want another fight after. Hopefully, Dana’s happy with my two wins and I get a shot at a contender and then a shot at a title. That’s four fights and that’s about as far forward as I’ve thought. I have to go out on my own, the way I want to go out. It has to be my decision. I’m not going to let fans or people that aren’t that close to me and don’t watch me train, don’t see what I can still do, make that decision for me.”

The fight against Tito Ortiz would be Chuck Liddell’s last fight under a UFC contract. I am thinking that if Liddell loses this fight he probably not be re-signed which could be a bad thing for the UFC as I am sure Liddell would have no issue going to fight for UFC rival, Strikeforce. If Liddell was to win against Ortiz the question would then turn into who he would fight. He is not a top flight contender because he was defeated by Evans and Rua. Potential opponents could be Rampage if he was to lose to Evans and the loser of Coleman/Couture.

Chuck Liddell to put on his Dancing Shoes this September

Chuck Liddell has not see the inside of an Octagon since being told to hang up his gloves back in April at UFC 97 after his second consecutive KO loss. He has stated since that he is not retired but will be taking a year off to rest his head. In his absence Liddell has managed to get himself onto Dancing with the Stars which will air on ABC this September.

“I want to win,” Liddell told UFC.com. “I don’t like losing in anything, so I’ll work as hard as they’ll let me.”

“I’m gonna go out, be myself, and show what kind of people we do have in this sport,” he said. “I’m sure the reaction will be mixed (among fight fans). My friends are gonna be excited and I’ll never hear the end of it because they’ll make fun of me, but it should be fun and I think everyone will like it.”

Liddell may have the footwork when it comes to boxing his opponents but will he be able to coordinate it into dancing along side a professional? I guess if you really want to you can find out this September 21st.

Liddell Retirement “blown way out of proportion”

“It’s like if you’re a kid and your parents don’t get along. They both called me up and talked to me, and they both love me and have my best interests at heart. I love both guys, and I’m not going to take sides. They’ve never liked each other. But they’ve always kept it quiet out of respect for me. Now that it’s going back and forth, it’s been blown way out of proportion.”

Since his loss at UFC 97 the question on many peoples minds has been whether or not Chuck Liddell will ever fight again. It is looking like he has a tough decision on his hands. One the one hand he has his coach John Hackleman telling him he should go back for more and on the other he has close friend and boss Dana White telling him to stay away.

I personally believe that Liddell is done. He has been knocked out cold in his last two fights now and to be honest I really can’t think of a fighter that you can still place Chuck against and draw big numbers. The only real option is a Wandy and Liddell rematch if Silva was to lose against Franklin at UFC 99. Other than that I think the only option for Liddell is to hang up his gloves and start training guys out at the Pit and eventually giving a younger fighter the opportunities he had.

Chuck Liddell has “more than one fight left in him”

Today John Hackleman told MMAJunkie that he believes Chuck Liddell has “more than one fight left in him.”

Chuck Liddell has lost his last two fights in the UFC via KO’s. After Liddell’s loss to ‘Shogun’ Rua UFC President Dana White was adament in saying that Chuck Liddell would never fight again. Chuck Liddell has not made a comment on his situation with the UFC as of yet but his long time trainer John Hackleman has been in the media quite frequently stating that it is Liddell’s decision to make and not Dana White’s.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen,” Hackleman said in a telephone interview. “Just on his abilities, his skill and his power, and what he has left, I think he has more than one fight left in him. Maybe his game isn’t what it was 10 years ago. I don’t know. But he’s definitely at the top of the food chain.

After all the recent comments fans of MMA and Chuck Liddell are left wodering if he will ever step back into the Octagon again. Liddell is currently 39 years old and by some standards such as Randy Couture and Don Frye still has around five years left to fight.

So now comes the real problem here. Dana won’t let him fight and Liddell is still under contract with the UFC for one more fight. Well the UFC is obligated to give him the fight or release him. If they release him every organization with enough money to spare would easily snap him up for a few fights giving their organization one of the biggest names ever in mixed martial arts.

I really can’t see the UFC letting a man who pretty much made the sport what it is with his exciting fighting style and domination of many opponents over the last few years just leave. They would feel obligated to give him that next fight.

If I was the UFC and he still wanted to fight my first option would be Wanderlei Silva if he was to lose at UFC 99. Silva has stated that he would like a rematch with Liddell who beat him at UFC 79. This fight would be a good way to go for both fighters who have each suffered a fair share of devastating knockouts over the last few years. This time before the fight starts the UFC should ask Liddell if this is his last fight before forcing it on him though.

Dana White Declares War if Liddell Does Not Retire

Liddell-UFC-97-After-Party

“Chuck Liddell is stupid rich. Chuck Liddell is done. He’s got nothing left to prove. He’s the most famous guy on Earth. I love him like a fucking brother and I don’t want to see him get hurt. There is no reason for it. He’s fucking 40 years old man. These guys that are fighting now are young, explosive, fast fucking kids who are well rounded mixed martial artists. There’s no fucking reason for Chuck Liddell to be out there at 40 years old still fighting. I don’t want to make a fucking nickel off that ever. Believe me, it will be a fucking war if he tries not to retire, believe me. I love him. He helped me build this business. We started when he was making five hundred and five hundred. And we had the dream of him becoming a big star and winning the title and making all kinds of money. We did it all man. We fucking did it all. We did it. We did it. It’s fucking over. He’s 40 years old, it is over. It was amazing that he was able to fight until he was 40. That’s what a bad motherfucker he was. He has nothing to prove to anybody, period. It’s over. We did everything that we set out to do. It has been an amazing run, its been fun. We did it together, we stayed loyal to each other the whole time and we did everything that we hoped to do and now its over. He can do it financially. And plus, I’m going to bring him into the organization in some other way and he’s still going to make money. He’s been loyal to me and I’ve been loyal to him and that’s not going to change now that he’s retiring. He’ll always be a part of the organization. He’ll take on another role, he’ll still make money and he’ll be with me until the day we die…. I always say is that I’ve built this business using the blueprint of boxing, what not to do. We know that you shouldn’t be fighting past your prime, you know?”

Chuck Liddell, as of right now, has not officially announced his retirement from fighting. It seems as though Dana White won’t take no for an answer though. White has offered Liddell a job in a suit with nice pay in order to keep him off of the canvas.

Over his many years fighting Chuck Liddell has been one of the greatest but that has all slipped from under him with two losses by KO in his last two fights. Liddell is one of the great legends of this sport and I fell he should retire without trying to look for that final win.

Wanderlei Silva Wants Liddell Rematch

April 21, 2009 · Filed Under Quotes, UFC · Comment

Wanderlei Silva despite all of the speak about the retirement of Chuck Liddell would still like a rematch to redeem his loss at UFC 79.

Liddell isn’t the only man Silva would like to go up against though. In the past few days he has been calling out Anderson Silva. I think before the Axe Murderer starts calling anyon out he should focus on beating Rich Franklin at UFC 99 first.

  • Ryo Chonan (171) vs. T.J. Grant (169)
  • Sam Stout (155) vs. Matt Wiman (155)

The weigh-ins for UFC 97: Redemption took place earlier today. Everyone made the weight as expected. Just one thing to point out though, Anderson Silva weighing in 3 pounds under the 185 limit. That is pretty amazing for a fighter that has been to the Light-Heavyweight division and now back down, guess he just over-shot it a bit.

Hopefully the main event doesn’t end like the last Silva title defence, heres hoping for a good fight and… a new champion?
