When Will EliteXC get Knocked Out?
It is clear that right now the EliteXC is currently one of the major players in the world of MMA organizations. They don’t sell PPV’s but they do have a recognizable brand along with a fairly decent stable of fighters. Only problem for them now is the fact that their most well known fighter Kimbo Slice was knocked out in fourteen seconds by an Ultimate Fighter 2 contestant known as Seth Petruzelli.
Now while Kimbo isn’t the only fighter in the EliteXC he was carrying the weight of a whole organization round with him and now all that weight has been passed on to Gina Carano. Carano can obviously be credited with the title of “most popular female fighter in North America,” she won her last fight and is still undefeated. Carano right now is the bigest name that the EliteXC has left, they need to get her fighting in every event to keep the numbers up and hopefully she wont get beat in such a dramatic fashion like Kimbo.
So with the bigest name gone and the whole organization resting on Gina Carano can the EliteXC rebound? It would take alot! They need to really start farming their own material and find a fighter with qualaties like Anderson Silva which is fairly impossible but it could be the only way. Another option for them is to sign a big name from another sport like the UFC did with Brock Lesnar. Kurt Angle is currently looking at joining MMA, the EliteXC should try and grab him before the UFC do.
What if they can’t find the fighters? If the EliteXC can’t find the fighters they are simply going to go broke. They are already $60 million under and much more in a struggling economy could be bye bye for the EliteXC. I personally hope they can rebound or Affliction can gain more power. Choice is always a great thing for a fan and if the UFC is always top of the pile we won’t get much of it.
Ken Shamrock Plans on Breaking Kimbo’s Leg
“Honestly, I think I can test him anywhere. He’s got big, heavy hands. Everyone says he punches hard and he probably does. But again, he doesn’t punch properly, in my opinion. He swings his hands, he moves his body back and forth trying to get as much power as he can, but there’s really no snap behind it. You can usually see the punches coming. I’m going to do what I need to do. If it goes to the ground, I’ll probably break his leg. I mean, no question. I will break his leg. If he gives it to me, I’m going to break it.”
MMA legend Ken Shamrock told the above to Sherdog.com earlier today. Shamrock plans to go after a weakness in Kimbo Slice, his legs. Ken Shamrock has had his fair share of fights and 26 wins coming from them. Of those 26 wins “The Worlds Most Dangerous Man” ended them early 22 of those endings from submissions. At least Kimbo’s trainer Bas Rutten has had experience with leg locks from Shamrock, losing twice to them.
Kimbo Slice and TapouT Team Up
Kimbo Slice, Internet legend and current EliteXC heavyweight fighter will be getting himself some sponsor money from those guys at TapouT. The announcement comes just as the TapouT crew are going into their second season of the show on Versus.
The idea behind signing Kimbo Slice is for TapouT to create an exclusive Kimbo line of clothing. Here is the press release from TapouT:
Grand Terrace, CA (July 28, 2008) – TapouT, the premier mixed martial arts apparel, gear and lifestyle brand, announced today that the company will sponsor MMA superstar Kimbo Slice and create a joint apparel line under the TapouT brand. TapouT will be Kimbo’s exclusive apparel sponsor.
“Kimbo is the real deal,” said Mask, TapouT Founder. “He is the ultimate underdog who kept his nose to the grindstone and rose up to become one of the most well-known MMA fighters out there. Kimbo is tough, but full of heart, and we’re excited to take him from the cage to the clothing.”
“I want to thank the whole TapouT FAM for taking an interest in me and team ,” said Kimbo Slice. Also thank you guys for allowing us to be a part of your FAM… and the tightest gear out there. Hey man, my team is psyched, team Kimbo is psyched.”
Further details on the Kimbo/TapouT apparel line will be announced in the coming months.

Chuck Liddell Responds to Kimbo Slice
The media battle between heavyweight Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson and former UFC light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell still continues.

Recently Kimbo Slice released a video of him slating Chuck Liddell (above). He stated that Chuck Liddell was “only creating a monster”. That video can be found here.
Over the past weekend the injured Chuck Liddell struck back on “Rear Naked Radio” questioning Slice’s body of work.
“All I said is fight to someone real,” Liddell said. “The only guy he lost to in his street-fight things came into the UFC and lost. Fight a guy that is real and fight a guy… who has a few wins in MMA, and then talk about it.”
“Before he talks about fighting me, he might want to think about beating somebody that has a winning record,” Liddell said. “He’s an Internet sensation who beat up guys at Taco Bell. Come on. How hard is that to do?”
I guess…. Ignore last post for now
So it turns out that my last post should be ignored… At least for now. EliteXC has resigned Kimbo Slice, Gina Carano and Robbie Lawler.
“I am proud and very excited to announce that Kimbo, Gina and Robbie have all re-signed with us,’’
The terms of the long term contracts were not announced. So who knows Kimbo at UFC by 2009?
“We’re extremely happy to get these deals done with Kimbo, Gina and Robbie,’’ Shaw said. “Fighters know EliteXC is the place to be and the organization to fight for, which is why we’ve always been able to sign or re-sign almost each and every one of our fighters.
The three fighters are EliteXC’s most popular fighters and will all be fighting in the first of four prime time MMA Events on CBS. Make sure to check it out May 31
Maybe: Kimbo Vs. Liddell

If Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson (3-0-0) was to fight some more notable opponents White would bring him to the UFC to fight Liddell.
“If Kimbo fought anybody that mattered, I would book that tomorrow,” White said.
“The fact is, Kimbo’s not there yet. He would get destroyed. I heard he just got knocked out by Forrest Griffin last week in a sparring match after a kick to the head.”
If Kimbo was to beat James Thompson May 31st it would be his most notable win to date. Not quite enough to get everybody talking about his skill but it’s a start. To really get some attention a win over Ricco Rodriguez would make him a talking point. Who knows maybe we will be seeing Kimbo Slice in the UFC by the end of 2008?
