WEC 48 Live Play-by-play
WEC Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo vs. Urijah Faber
Round one: In the opening minute both fighters are just feeling each other out. Not much is happening apart from some range finding strikes. 3:00 left and the Faber chants start by the crowd at the ARCO Arena. 2:40 and Faber goes after Aldo but comes away with nothing. Faber keeps switching stances and throwing wild strikes in these opening minutes in order to catch Aldo off guard with something. 1:30 left and Aldo connects with a nice knee. Under a minute left and Urijah really begins to open up. :30 left and Aldo lands a big knee to the body knocking Faber back and onto the canvas. He quickly stands back up though and gets back to the striking. A very close round which I would give to Aldo 10-9 because he had some of the cleaner more effective shots.
Round two: Faber starts off rushing at Aldo but doesn’t land any strikes. Aldo got a body kick in and then followed up with a series of punches. 3:30 and Aldo almost connects with a big uppercut, if it had connected properly it could have been the end of the bout. Aldo looked like he was going to go in for the flying knee but never managed it. Aldo is really working the leg kicks now and they are looking as though they are giving Urijah a hard time. :30 and Urijah is now limping with the left leg. It has took such a beating in this second round. Easily 10-9 to Aldo.
Round three: A minute in and Aldo gets another few leg kicks and it is looking as though Urijah can take no more punishment. These leg kicks are taking their toll on Faber now and he is limping while Aldo takes no risks in breaking him down further. Urijah went for the takedown with 2:15 left but Aldo escaped. The kicks are continuing and with :10 left Aldo knocks Faber down with one. 10-9 Aldo.
Round four: 3:40 and Aldo gets mount on Faber and then back mount looking for the rear naked choke. Faber gets out though and gets the fight back to standing. Another leg kick puts Faber down and Aldo goes in for the kill but Faber survives. The crowd begins to chant fo Faber with1:45 remaining. Aldo gets a mounted crucifix and begins unloading some left elbows and punches. The punches were not effective though and Urijah managed to hang in until the end of the round. 10 -8 Aldo
Round five: Faber goes in for a takedown but does not manage to get it. Faber is stood back up. The round plays out like all of those previous. 10-9 to Aldo
Final result: Jose Aldo defeats Urijah Faber via unanimous decision (49-45, 49-45, 50-45)
WEC Lightweight Champion Benson Henderson vs. Donald Cerrone
Round one: Henderson got off to the better start in this fight getting control of Cerrone’s back while standing and then eventually getting the takedown. Out of nowhere came a guillotine choke and it was over, Ben Henderson got the victory by submission.
Final result: Benson Henderson defeats Donald Cerrone via guillotine choke at 1:57 of round 1
Mike Brown vs. Manny Gamburyan (145-pound limit)
Round one: Opening minute and neither fighter has come out on top. Both have landed a few strikes so far. Manny lands an overhand right with two minutes remaining. and then a few seconds later Gamburyan caught Brown with a right hook that knocked him clean out. After seeing the replay you can see that Brown leant into the punch.
Final result: Manny Gamburyan defeats Mike Brown via KO at 2:22 of round 1
Final result: Shane Roller defeats Anthony Njokuani via submission (rear naked choke) at 3:07 of round 1
Antonio Banuelos vs. Scott Jorgensen
Round one: The opening two minutes of the round were relatively even on the feet. Jorgensen was controlling the center of the cage while Banuelos pases around the outside looking for an opening. That opening came at about 2:30 when a left connected sending Joegensen to the mat. Jorgenson was able to recover and the fight was back to standing with 1:40 remaining. 30 seconds remaining and Banuelos landed a nice spinning back kick to the mid-section. Banuelos tried some more kicks towards the very end which were blocked by Jorgensen. I score the round 10-9 to Banuelos based upon the knockdown.
Round two: Jorgensen came out looking for the win much more in this second round landing some good shots. Banuelos continues to look for the left while Jorgensen keeps working the jab. Jorgensen begins to land some more nice shots on Banuelos. Banuelos’ nose is really busted up and begins to bleed pretty bad towards the later portion of the second. Second round 10-9 to Jorgensen.
Round three: Jorgensen lands some big shots in the opening minutes of the round but Banuelos manages to recover. The blood continues to come out of Banuelos’ nose which is clearly broken. Jorgensen continues to pressure Banuelos and lands a solid right with three minutes remaining in the round. The crowd starts to boo with half of the round gone and shortly after Jorgensen drops Banuelos with a right gaining rear mount. 1:45 remaining and Jorgensen gets the RNC locked in but Banuelos finds a way out. Jorgensen gets back to rear mount and works on opening up Banuelos for another choke which he locks on with 15 seconds remaining but was never able to finish. 10-9 Jorgensen in my book.
Final result: Scott Jorgensen defeats Antonio Banuelos via unanimous decision (29-28 all three judges)

Strikeforce Miami Live Recap
Nick Diaz vs. Marius Zaromskis (170-pound)
Round one: Here we go with the main event! Zaromskis comes out quick and tries to take DIaz out but Diaz returns some good shots of his own. Diaz looks for the single leg takedown but Zaromskis catches him and both fighters end up clinching against the cage. Diaz spends around a minute kneeing Zaromskis in the leg which against the cage. Zaromskis gets taken down by Diaz but gets back up quick and Diaz connects with a good left. Zaromskis tags Diaz though and Diaz falls and shells up. Diaz is bleeding and Zaromskis goes after him, it is not over for Diaz though who continues to throw some big shots. The crowd begins to chant “Diaz”. There is absolutely no defense from either fighter at this point and Zaromskis gets tagged with a massive uppercut, it looked as though he would go out but he continued standing and staggering around until Diaz connected with one more good shot and Zaromskis went down. Diaz takes the fight and the Strikeforce welterweight championship.
Result: Nick Diaz defeats Marius Zaromskis via TKO at 4:38 , Round 1*
Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos vs. Marloes Coenen (145-pound)
Round one: Fight gets underway fast with both fighters throwing big shots and then ending up in the clinch against the fence. Coenen tries to get the armbar from guard but Cyborg gets out and drops a huge right hand on the face of Coenen. Cyborg picks up Coenen from guard and slams her down then drops two big shots once again. Coenen gets a couple of upkciks and the referee stands the women back up and both fighters begin exchanging blows. Coenen drops levels and looks for the takedown but Cyborg stands her back up and both fighters end up against the cage in the clinch. After separation both fighters begin throwing massive shots once again. A very hard round to call but I would go with Cyborg 10-9.
Round two: Cyborg unloads on Coenen and knocks her down but Coenen is still in it. Cyborg gets into guard and picks Coenen up to slam her but Coenen manages a safe landing right back on the ground. With a minute left Cyborg unleashes a great amount of shots on the grounded Coenen but none do any real damage. That second round clearly belongs to Cyborg so I have it at 20-18 right now for the champion.
Round three: Cyborg quickly goes for the takedown but cant and the fighters end up against the cage. The fighters separate and Cyborg begins to unleash. Coenen goes for the takedown and it is reversed by Cyborg who takes Coenen down and into half-guard. While in half-guard Cyborg keeps trying to keep Coenen down while throwing some blows. Coenen got Cyborg into her guard and Cyborg stood up and began to unleash. Coenen got out and both fighters got back to standing. Coenen through a big right hand and Cyborg returned a few before taking Coenen down and unleashing once again. Coenen shelled up and Cyborg continued the onslaught until the referee stopped the fight to give Cyborg the victory.
Result: Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos defeats Marloes Coenen via TKO (Strikes) at 3:40, Round 3
Greg Nagy vs. Herschel Walker (215-pound limit)
Round one: Walker tags Nagy with a straight jab early on which makes Nagy stagger back but then the fight gets back to normal. Walker is looking extremely tight in his stance and even throws a bit of a dance in there. Nagy goes for the takedown but Walker sprawls and attempts to take the back of Nagy. Walker then takes mount and begins to unleash the GnP. Nagy defends the initial onslaught of GnP. Nagy gets Walker in a heel hook but Walker gets out almost immediately and goes back to sprawl position. Walker then got north-south of Nagy and then into side control. First round went to Herschel Walker easily 10-9
Round two: Walker gets a good takedown in the opening minute of the first round and ends up in side control. Walker then transitions onto the back of Nagy who rolls over to give Walker high mount. Nagy escapes the mount and tries to get back to his feet but Walker keeps forcing him back down to the ground. Walker takes the back of Nagy again and flattens him out but can’t get the hooks in or the choke. Nagy tries to roll over again and Walker once again gets mount on Nagy. That round once again was all Herschel Walker 20-18 so far on my scorecard.
Round three: Nagy comes out quick in this round but Walker takes him down against the cage and lands in Nagy’s guard. Nagy goes for the armbar on Walker but Walker pulls his arm out quite easily. Walker gets back to where he left off in round number two, high mount. Walker begins with the punches from high mount and Nagy just struggles to get out of it any way he can. Walker gets to back mount and Nagy just covers up, the referee stops the fight because Nagy is not trying to improve his position.
Result: Herschel Walker defeats Greg Nagy via TKO (Strikes) at 2:17, Round 3
Robbie Lawler vs. Melvin Manhoef (185-pound limit)
Round one: The first thirty seconds pass with no contact and then Manhoef connected with a kick to the midsection of Lawler. After a minute the crowd begins to boo a little bit due to the lack of contact. Manhoef gets Lawler to shell up against the fence but Lawler gets away. Manhoef begins unleashing with 2:15 left in the round, there are some powerful leg kicks and huge uppercuts going in. Lawlers leg is clearly hurting but out of nowhere Lawler connects and KO’s Manhoef. I am left thinking WTF?
Result: Robbie Lawler defeats Melvin Manhoef via KO at 3:33, Round 1
Bobby Lashley vs. Wes Sims (265-pound limit)
Round one: Wes Sims acts like his normal self at the start of the fight by trying to play games with Lashley but he quickly gets taken down and Lashley begins with the GnP. Sims later regained control of Lashley but could not get back to standing. Lashley postures up and starts throwing down punches until Sims rolled over and the fight was stopped due to strikes. Sims thought the stoppage was pre-mature.
Result: Bobby Lashley defeats Wes Sims via TKO (Strikes) at 2:06, Round 1
UFC 99 Live: Cheick Kongo Vs. Cain Velasquez
Here is the live commentary and result for Cheick Kongo Vs. Cain Velasquez at UFC 99.
Round 1:
Velasquez pushes the action and gets caught instantly so quick, he did recover and get the takedown and after so many transitions Velasquez ended up on Kongo’s back. Velasquez then ended up in side control and eventually mount raining down punches to Kongo. Velasquez got the choke in but Kongo got out and the fight got to standing. Velasquez put in a huge takedown and into side control he went. Velasqez then got the back and went for the choke which once again did not work. Cain kept getting either mount or back control because Kongo could not get out. Finally Kongo stood up but was met by a huge slam. Velasquez once again got the mount but Kongo kept rolling around. It will take a lot for Kongo to recover from this. End of round 1
10-9 if not 10-8 to Cain Velasquez
Round 2:
Kongo rocks Velasquez again in the early seconds of the second round. Kongo is pushing Velasquez up against the cage and Velasquez in looking for the takedown which he eventually got. Velasquez once again got the back of Kongo and began throwing many punches and knees to Kongo before rolling him over to mount. Velasquez once again gets the back and Kongo begins rolling looking for a way to get up. This is just destruction of Knogo at this point. All he needs to do is stand up and he should have the fight in the bag if he can land any sort of punches like the start of round one. The punches and knees continue and Kongo is doing nothing about it. Velasquez gets mount with 10 seconds left. End of round 2.
10-9 if not 10-8 once again for Velasquez
Round 3:
Kongo connects again and then begins looking for the takedown himself and gets it. It takes only a few seconds for the round to be looking the same as the last two apart from this time he is actually trying to stand up. He is then told to do something and begins trying once again to stand up. Velasquez gets the mount and then the back once more. KOngo finally gets up with 2 minutes lft and begins throwing knees while clinching. Kongo gets took back down and is once again getting destoryed.
10-9 Velasquez
Final Result: Unanimous Decision Cain Velasquez

Al Turk gets back up, claimed to be poked in the eye but it ended being his downfall when he was caught with an uppercut which finished him off. TKO victory. UFC 99 Live: Mike Swick Vs. Ben Saunders
Here is the live commentary and result for Mike Swick Vs. Ben Saunders at UFC 99.
Round One:
Swick has the fight on the ground really quick in the guard of Saunders but Swick is really unable to do anything at all apart from a few body shots. Mike Swick asks “you gonna hold me all fucking night” and is told to “stand back up bitch” by Saunders. Swick eventually stands back up and is met by an upkick before falling back into Saunders’ guard. The fight was then stood back up and Sauders throws a great body kick and huge fight hand. Both fighters begin clinching against the cage and Saunders gets a nice knee to the head of Swick. End of round 1.
No idea who to pick, will go 10-9 Swick for epic amount of time on top.
Round 2:
Round two gets underway and Saunders goes for a few left head kicks but not cleanly connecting. The clinch up against the cage begins and Saunders throws some knees, Swick catches a knee and drops Saunders, quickly passing to mount. Saunders managed to push Swick back to butterfly guard without taking much damage while being mounted. The fight was stood back up with 3 minutes left. Both fighters get a good knee to the body. A minute passed with the fighters each boxing and landing a fair few good shots. Swick catches Saunders with a huge combo quickly dropping him. Both fighters in the opening 30 seconds looking extremely energized but throughout the whole first 50 seconds nothing was landed and crowned began to boo. Uno shot in for the takedown and Fisher defended easily and the fight eventually made it back to standing. Fisher was pinning Uno against the cage throwing some great body knees. Uno then turned the tables and held Fisher against the cage. With the limited action the German crowd began to boo. 2 minutes left fighters are separated and returned to the middle of the Octagon. Both fighters looking to stand and bang then Spencer gets a nice leg kick followed a few seconds later by a right hook. Uno once again went for the takedown but Fisher proves to be too good at stopping it.30 seconds left Caol Uno pins Fisher against the cage and the boos begin to rain down from the German crowd. 3 minutes remaining and Caol Uno is in the guard of Spencer Fisher throwing to shots to Fishers head. Uno tried to stack Fisher but Fisher quickly broom swept Uno and the fight was back to standing. Uno then pulled guard which proved to be a bad idea for him, he took a few punches to the head. End of round 2.
10-9 Uno – Extremely hard round to call but I would go with Uno if I had to pick any of the two
Round 3:
Third round gets underway and Uno quickly forces Fisher against the cage. After separating Fisher gets a nice big left hand and a quick body knee. Uno want in for the takedown but just couldn’t complete because the cage was in the way. This did not stop Uno from forcing in though pinning Fisher up against the cage for a few moments. Both fighters went back to standing with Uno once again forcing Fisher up against the cage. They were then seperated and Uno threw a leg kick which caused himself to fall down. Fisher got a nice right hook once they were both standing and then Uno pulled guard which Fisher quickly passed. Uno then rolled over and got the fight back to standing once again trying to force Fisher against the cage. One minute left and Uno gets a takedown eventually getting mount and raining down the punches clearly hurting Fisher. Fisher gets it back to half guard and Uno went for the choke with 5 seconds left. End of round 3.
10-9 Uno – Uno clearly won the round in the last minute.

UFC 99 Live: Dan Hardy Vs. Marcus Davis
I am going to give each fight it’s own seperate post for the live updates. Here is the live commentary and text for Marcus Davis Vs. Dan Hardy at UFC 99.
Round One:
The crowd really seemed to be in favor of Davis during the intro’s.
Opening 30 seconds both fighters threw some leg kicks and then Davis shot in for the takedown but Hardy gets the underhook and is held against the cage trying to pry his way out. Davis started throwing some punches the way of Dan Hardy while against the cage some of them connected good. Davis eventually got Hardy to the ground and passed the half guard right into mount. Hardy eventually recovered quickly though and back to guard before Davis passed guard and got the back of Hardy after he rolled. Davis still with control over Hardy began to throw some right hands of which a few connected.
Fight gets back to standing with 40 seconds remaining and Hardy connected with a great right hand. Davis recovered and was took down by Hardy but got back to his feet within seconds. End of round 1.
10-9 Davis
Round 2:
Once again round two starts with some kicks from both fighters each landing a clean one a piece in the opening 30 seconds. Davis keeps trying to get in close but Hardy is throwing some good shots to keep him at bay. 3:30 left and both fighters get into a fist fight before Hardy gets the clinch and throws a huge knee and Davis dropped to the mat, Hardy was unable to finish.
After trying to fight Davis’ guard for a while Hardy was then having to fight an oncoming armbar. He managed to get out but remained in his guard. 1:30 remaining Hardy is trying to throw some power shots to Davis’ head . Not many are connecting and with about 1 minute remaining the fight was stood back up.
Davis throws a nice kick but gets quickly countered, then comes a huge left from Davis. Davis then gets the takedown right into Hardy’s guard. Davis quickly passed but with only 10 seconds left he didn’t have much time to get anything done. End of round 2.
10-9 Hardy – Based upon the knee that rocked Davis.
Round 3:
Davis hits Hardy pretty good in the opening seconds and Hardy drops. Davis goes into Hardy’s guard and begins to pass. Davis got to half guard and began to attempt a foot lock. Hardy got out of what seemed to be three different attempts and the fight went back to standing.
2:30 remaining both fighters are up against the cage throwing a few shot a piece. Hardy then got the takedown right into Davis’ guard and began throwing down a few punches including an elbow which really opened up Davis. The cut had to be checked and they would resume position after the doctor said it was all ok. Hardy was looking to make the cut worse with some hammerfists from the guard of Davis. The fight was then stood back up. Head kick barely missed from hardy quickly followed up by a left hand. End of round 3.
10-9 Hardy – based on ground control
Fight Result: Dan Hardy Wins via slpit decision and Marcus Davis is clearly unhappy. (29-28 Hardy, 29-28 Davis, 29-28 Hardy)

UFC 94 Live Commentary:
Welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre vs. lightweight champion BJ Penn
Fight Recap: GSP basically dominated every single round. The first one was the only round where BJ looked like a fighter. GSP kept the side-mount on BJ in rounds 2,3 and four and Penn could just not find his way out. BJ Penn took an extreme beating and in the end Jay D (BJ’s brother) told the doctor to stop the fight and that was it. GSP retained his title in a dominating fashion.
Final result:GSP wins via (T)KO
Lyoto Machida vs. Thiago Silva
Fight Recap: Lyoto Machida does his usual kick and retreat. Machida also threw in a few take-downs. Then in the very last seconds Machida took Silva down and threw a punch which knocked Silva clean out. He then followed threw with a second punch which was not needed.
Final result: Lyoto Machida wins via KO
Stephan Bonnar vs. Jon Jones
Fight Recap: The return of Stephan Bonnar was not good for him. Jon Jones was able to get the decision win by controlling a majority of the fight. Jones gets his seventh win and second in the Octagon.
Final result: 29-28 Unanimous Decision for Jon Jones
Karo Parisyan vs. Dong Hyun “Stun Gun” Kim
Fight Recap: An over the top boring fight. Obviously both guys using their Judo. Kim kept controlling the standing. I am writing this after knowing the result and I would say that Kim got shafted by the judges.
Final result: 29-28 Parisyan 29-28 Kim 29-28 Parisyan
Nate Diaz vs. Clay Guida
Fight Recap: A very good fight between to guys who are at the top of the game right now. Clay Guida got off to the early start clearly taking the first round. The second round could of gone either way but I would of predicted the Diaz took it.
The fight was full of take-downs and submission attempts from both fighters. Guida won the fight handing Diaz his first loss in the Octagon.
Final result: 29-28 Diaz 29-28 Guida 29-28 Guida
