The Ultimate Fighter finale took place last night in its usual venue at The Pearl at The Palms. The official attendance for the finale was 1,400 which brought in a total live gate of $504,350, the event was dubbed “close to a sellout.”

MMAJunkie.com checked back on the attendance for last seasons Ultimate Fighter US vs UK finale and found out that the amount of tickets sold was less for season 10 but revenue was higher. The average price per ticket sold for last nights event was $360.25.

Four of the twenty fighters who were on last nights card each received an extra $25,000.

Frankie Edgar and Matt Veach each took home the bonus money for putting on “Fight of the Night.” Matt Veach had the upper hand in the start of the fight with some powerful slams but the tides soon changed and Frankie Edgar was able to come away with the submission victory in the second round.

Roy Nelson got the award for “Knockout of the Night.” Nelson was able to topple Brendan Schaub and take The Ultimate Fighter crown.

Mark Bocek picked up “Submission of the Night” after defeating UFC newcomer Joe Brammer via rear naked choke.

Houston Alexander to Face Kimbo Slice at TUF 10 Finale?

According to Matt Erickson of the Northwest Indiana Times the fight between Kimbo Slice and Houston Alexander will be taking place at the Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale. The fight will take place at a catchweight limit of 215lbs which is ten pounds over the light heavyweight limt that Alexander usually fights at.

The Times has learned from a source close to the Alexander camp that the fight has indeed been agreed to and that it will be contested at a special heavyweight catch weight of 215 pounds on “The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale” on Dec. 5 at The Pearl at The Palms in Las Vegas.

According to the source, the fight was originally going to take place at light heavyweight. But Ferguson, the source said, is not able to make the drop to 205 pounds, and the two fighters agreed to the bout at 215 pounds. Ferguson weighed in at 230 pounds for his fight with Nelson on the show, which was filmed over the summer. And on a media conference call two days before that episode aired, he said he was then just short of 235 pounds.

Ultimate Fighter 9 Finale Fight Bonuses

The Ultimate Fighter 9 Finale took place last night and it would be an understatement to call it spectacular. Pretty much every minute of every fight kept me on the edge of my seat. So what better way to show thanks to the fighters than to give out three “Fight of the Night” bonuses?

Fight of the Night: Diego Sanchez vs. Clay Guida; Chris Lytle vs. Kevin Burns; Joe Stevenson vs. Nate Diaz

KO of the Night: Tomasz Drwal

Submission of the Night: Jason Dent

Each one of the fighters listed above took home an extra $25,000 bonus on top of their salaries which have not yet been released by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. The $25,000 amount is less than the normal amount for a PPV but the exact same as the Ultimate Fighter Season 8 Finale bonuses that were handed out.

Pearson Claims TUF Lightweight Crown in Dirty Boxing Battle Against Andre Winner

Ross-Pearson-Andre-Winner-Ultimate-Fighter-Lightweights

It was the first of The Ultimate Fighter Finales last night as two UK team-mates battled it out for the six-figure contract and a chance to be called the next “Ultimate Fighter.”

Both Ross Pearson and Andre Winner had made it through to the finals putting a stop to all American competition that stood in front of them. The two fighters had trained together in the past and had obviously spent a lot of time working together on the show which would mean that the fighters would be an extremely close match. Well they were and the bout went the full three rounds all the way to a unanimous decision which really, how did anyone know who to give the rounds to? Everything in the fight was so close with each fighter receiving and giving out their fair share of damage.

When it was all said and done though, Nottingham native Ross Pearson was the one receiving the nice glass placard from UFC President Dana White. Here is looking forward to seeing Ross on his rise through the UFC Lightweight division.

Stevenson Runs Through Nate Diaz in Unanimous Decision Victory

In what was one of the most strategic MMA battles of the year Joe “Daddy” Stevenson reigned #1 when the judges handed in their scorecards.

The majority of the fight was waged on the ground with impeccable transitions, countless amounts of submission attempts and the most craziest looking crucifix I have ever seen.

Going into the bout Nate Diaz was a slight favorite with book makers around the world due to his size advantage and the recent losses by Joe Stevenson. It became apparent though that the size advantage did not work out too good for Diaz. Instead he was overpowered and kept getting took down.

At one stage in the first round Stevenson had a guillotine locked in which looked as though it may have finished the fight right there. After hanging in for around thirty seconds Diaz managed to escape.

The bout officially ended in a unanimous decision victory for Joe Stevenson by a score of 29-28 on all three judges scorecards.

After I beat Diego, I feel like I’ve fought the toughest competition in the lightweight division in the two and a half years I’ve been with the UFC. People see my record, and 5-3 is nothing great. But people who have seen my losses know that every time I fight, I put on a show. I’ve lost a few close ones. Roger got the best of me, in a fight that he deserves. That was a turning point in my career. They guaranteed Diego a title shot if he beats me, but he’s not getting that title shot. I know I’m ready for a title shot. I fight better for better opponents. I’m going to outwork everyone in my division, I’m going to outwork the champion, and one day, I’m going to have that belt around my waist.

Clay Guida sounding extremely confident in an interview with Cagewriter about his upcoming fight at The Ultimate Fighter 9 Finale in Las Vegas, Nevada. Guida will be facing some tough competition though in recently turned Lightweight Diego Sanchez.

Sanchez just like Kenny Florian was a former Middleweight fighter and then Welterweight. Both fighters faced off in the finale of TUF 1 and Sanchez came out the better man.

As mentioned in the interview with Clay Guida, Diego Sanchez has been promised the title fight if he can get the better of Guida. Clearly Guida feels it should work both ways and will be looking to put on an amazing show while trying to get the win in order to prove to the UFC he is the man who deserves the Lightweight title around his waist.
